Targeting the Biology of the Brain to Enhance Behavioral Adoption of Healthy Nutrition and Exercise in Health and Disease

Healthy nutrition and physical activity/exercise are broadly recognized as key approaches with established benefits for today's health problems. However, very little has been done in being able to increase the adoption of these health-related behaviors . Promoting healthy behaviors would be key to minimize disease burden. Propose to focus more on the biology (i.e., brain biology) of those behaviors (current emphasis has been placed only in societal and environmental approaches). Along this proposal it is important to increase the number of clinical studies with human subjects, to allow vast majority of findings from animal studies over the last 10-15 years to finally be translated into human health.
